Sermorelin: what the GHRH(1-29) research record covers

Max ·

Sermorelin is GHRH(1-29), the shortest piece of growth-hormone-releasing hormone that keeps the full activity of the native 44-amino-acid hormone. It was FDA-approved as Geref for diagnosing and treating GH deficiency in children, and the maker withdrew it from the market in 2008 for commercial reasons, not safety. Key papers: 1. Cervini et al. (J Med Chem, 1998), structure-activity work on GHRH(1-29). https://doi.org/10.1021/jm970618s 2. Achermann et al. (Clin Endocrinol, 1999), comparing continuous and pulsed GHRH(1-29) delivery. https://doi.org/10.1046/j.1365-2265.1999.00839.x 3. Stepień et al. (Neuropeptides, 2009), on GHRH(1-29) and cell growth and VEGF signaling. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.npep.2009.08.005 For discussion: why does pulsed versus continuous delivery matter so much for the GH response? The full write-up is in Guides: Sermorelin and GHRH(1-29).
